Joining the Association

Who can join ?  There are multiple forms of membership in the 31st Infantry Regiment Association.  We encourage you to select the one that best suits you and join us today. A membership form is attached.   We have members in every state and many overseas areas.  We are from every era of service in peace and war.  Most are veterans of combat or overseas service with the 31st Infantry in the Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Afghanistan , Iraq , and East Africa.  Others served with successor battalions and battle groups of the 31st in the US.  Associates are family members of veterans, friends of the regiment, and the crew of our ship, the USNS Pomeroy.

What do you get by joining?  First and foremost, you get re-connected with old friends and comrades from years gone by.  Some may have been searching for you for years.  We keep you connected with comrades and your regiment's rich history through this website and a quarterly newsletter that keeps you updated on who is joining, who has passed on, what our active duty battalion is doing, and the latest on our reunions.  Reunions are annual, usually held in the late fall and always in a different city or with our active battalion at Ft Drum, New York.

What about reunions?  Not everyone is able to attend a reunion but those who come are always pleasantly surprised at how much fun it is to meet people who may or may not have served with you but who all share a common devotion to the regiment.  We keep it light but reverent, suitable for both veterans and wives and adult offspring.  An honor guard from our active battalion is always there with the Shanghai Bowl, adding both nostalgia and a connection to today's soldiers.  We always experience a bond across the ages.  No matter how old or how young, how frail or how fit, we're all part of something unique-an exclusive club-the Polar Bears!

How to join: Click on the membership application link, fill it out, and send it with your check to our Adjutant, Jack Considine  will send you a membership card and will notify the association through the newsletter that you've joined.
