Two members of the 31st Infantry Regiment Association have been involved in projects supporting our 4-31 Brothers in Iraq.
On September 12, the Joint Advanced Warfighting Program (JAWP), a division of the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Alexandria, Virginia, helped the 4th Battalion 31st Infantry get its aid to Iraqi schools project underway by shipping over 400 pounds of school supplies. Two more shipments were sent in the following months and in December, the JAWP sent Christmas gifts to the battalion's troops. The drive was organized by Dr. Amy Henninger and Brian Williams. The JAWP is led by a former Polar Bear, Karl Lowe (D/6-31st Inf 1970).
Bill (HHC/6-31st Inf 1969/70) and his wife Florence organized and sent gifts to the troops. Their church fellowship group got the congregation involved with buying and packaging up the gifts. They sent 8 or 9 boxes in all so this is just a little bit of the stuff we sent. It was fun! The congregation would like us to do another shipment.
In response to the support, Sgt Joe Caron's wife, Tina, forwarded this message and photos.
